The first Gabriel Knight game is traditional hand-drawn-style animation; the third is computer-generated skins (rather like Half-Life, if you've played that, or any of the shoot-em-ups). Both nice, but for my money neither approaches the sheer intensity of the second game, filmed on location using live actors. Gabriel Knight is played by the delightful Dean Erickson (the shorter, blonder, more casually dressed one), Friedrich von Glower by the delectable Peter Lucas (the stylish brunet). Here they are in screen-shots taken from the game:
Gabriel
and Friedrich meet for the first time. (The man in the back is the hunt
club doorman.) |
Gabriel and Friedrich drink and discuss life at Friedrich's house. |
More
of the same as the last one, as Gabe grows tired. Can I just point out
I that adore Friedrich's smoking jacket? |
Gabriel and Friedrich stand together in the hunt club lobby. |
Friedrich,
dressed for the hunt... |
...and the opera |
Gabriel, dressed in nothing. He "sleeps" as Friedrich watches. |
Gabriel
wakes in Friedrich's house and recalls the night before (with a huge
smile, I might add). |
Friedrich prepares to go after von Zell. |
Friedrich helps the wounded Gabriel (dressed in Friedrich's clothes, incidentally). |
