The
Backpack (a.k.a student humour)
By Sealie
“What the hell did you do to
him?” Ellison snapped
Blair neatly side-stepped the perp sprawled at his feet. The anthropology student shifted
his bulging backpack on his shoulder and had the grace to look embarrassed.
The detective hauled the mugger
he had been chasing to his feet and made him take the position before checking
him for concealed weapons and reading his rights.
The guy was obviously concussed
but Jim had little sympathy for him; he had left his aged victim with a broken
hip and numerous contusions.
The Sentinel cast an assessing
glance at his guide. There wasn’t a mark on him, he
wasn’t even out of breath. Yet, somehow, he had taken down a guy who outweighed
him by at least 50 pounds.
“What did you do to him?” he
demanded.
Blair shrugged. “I hit him with
my backpack.”
