• The Pentagon is in charge of the SGC (as all military operations). Originally only the Joint Chiefs (and an assigned liaison) knew about the program.  Eventually, more and more Pentagon personnel found out and were included in the process.
• Along with the R& D that happens at Area 51, the Department of Defense also contracted out some R& D related to SGC projects/technology to various companies, without ever telling them what it was from, or for. (Each company would only have been given a portion of a project, never the whole thing, obviously.) (Covenant)
• Colson Industries won several of those contracts, including one for sequencing some DNA -- Asgard DNA. Colson did more than they were supposed to instead of simply sequencing it, they grew an Asgard clone. They had no idea at the outset where the DNA was from. (Covenant)
• When Alec Colson went public with his proof that aliens were indeed visiting Earth -- by showing the walking Asgard clone to the media -- the Pentagon lost patience and told Jack and the SGC to put a stop to it. Jack did so by calling in a marker -- he brought Thor in to present himself as a hologram and pretend to be just a bit of military technology in development. (Covenant)

• He was alienated from Mark for years after that (Seth).
• In 1998 he was diagnosed with lymphoma and told he had only a few months to live. He pulled some strings at NASA to bump Sam ahead of the waiting list of astronaut applicants, expecting it would make her happy, and was confused, disappointed, and hurt/angry when she turned him down. He told her about the cancer and walked away. (Secrets)
• A short while later, his cancer got much worse, but he refused to let Hammond recall Sam to be with him -- even as he tried to cajole info out of him about what Sam was really doing. (Tok'ra, part 1)
• Hammond refused both requests, pulling Sam out of the first mission to the Tok'ra so that she could say goodbye to her father. (Tok'ra, part 2)
• Sam came up with the idea of Jacob being a host, to save his life (and to provide a basis for further relations with the Tok'ra). He said that the Prometheus and the fleet of F-302s could handle it, but Hammond, while agreeing that that was true if there were no other ships coming, respectfully suggested that they not send the Prometheus out he believed it to be a feint, for Anubis to judge their defenses, and wanted to give SG-1 a chance to return with weapons technology they could use. (Lost City, part 2)
• After Anubis's attack on a Navy battle group, he reported in another Oval Office meeting (Hayes, Kinsey, Hammond, Maynard, and an unnamed woman) that although all their FA-22s and ABLs were in the air, there was nothing to attack Anubis hadn't made another move since wiping out the battle group. (Lost City, part 2)
• After Anubis's appearance in the Oval Office and Hayes's refusal to kowtow to him, Jumper took the call that 30-plus ships had appeared in orbit around Earth. (Lost City, part 2)
• (Outside the SG universe, General Jumper is the actual Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and was Chief of Staff during the filming of this episode. He took over as USAF Chief of Staff in September 2001, after General Michael E. Ryan retired. General Ryan, who held the office of USAF Chief of Staff from October 1997 to September 2001, also appeared as himself on the show. The only USAF Chief of Staffs active during Stargate SG-1 filming who have not appeared on the show are General Ronald R. Fogelman, who retired in early September 1997, and General Ralph E. Eberhart, who was Acting Chief of Staff for one month before General Ryan was sworn in on October 6, 1997.)

• First interaction with the SGC was to come bringing an order releasing the refugee Tollans into NID (=his) custody, so they could be held in a " secure facility" in the Rockies. When Hammond stalled him long enough to give Daniel a chance to help the Tollans escape, Maybourne reacted by threatening to shoot all the escaping Tollans and court-martial Daniel. Not the most auspicious start to his relationship with the SGC. (Enigma)
• While still working at Area 51, he worked on a prototype weapon whose development was overseen by Colonel Samuels -- a naquadah-enhanced Mark-12A warhead. (Serpent's Lair)
• Tried to worsen Teal'c's condition in Bane and took him away from the SGC for scientific study.
• Moved on to take command of Area 51. (Touchstone)
• He seemed shocked when he found  out that the second stargate was missing from its sealed crate, replaced with a plastic copy, but wasn't worried what would  happen to his career, assuming that he'd be reassigned. (Touchstone)

  • When they " acquired" tech small enough to be smuggled back to Earth in someone's kit, he gave the NID unit the time and location of his SG mole's next offworld mission, so they could get there ahead of time, make the drop, and get out. (Shades of Grey)
• He found out about Jack's retirement and the reasons for it pretty much immediately, and showed up on Jack's doorstep the next day to make him an offer, clearly believing that Jack was completely sincere in his change of heart about the SGC's ethical policies. Jack kicked him out, but Maybourne left a card, and Jack called a week later to say he wanted in. (Shades of Grey)
• Maybourne went very dramatic in making sure Jack was sure, saying the operation was " secret" and " dangerous" and that once Jack saw what he was taking him to see, his choices would be to go along or disappear. (Shades of Grey)
  • He took Jack up in a jet to 30,000 feet to continue the discussion, to avoid surveillance, and contacted the temporary leader (Newman) of the NID unit he wanted Jack to lead by way of a Goa'uld long-distance communicator the unit was offworld. (Shades of Grey)
• Once Jack accepted, Maybourne gave him his first mission almost as soon as he'd arrived at the NID base: stealing Asgard tech from an Asgard-protected world. (Shades of Grey)

Solo mercenary years

• Jack had to go to him for help after the NID forced Hammond into retirement and planted what was  probably one of their own people in command of the SGC. (Chain Reaction)
• Maybourne did as he promised, getting Jack enough info to threaten Senator Kinsey and get Hammond reinstated. (Chain Reaction)
• He emailed himself a copy of the incriminating evidence, and used it to pressure " people" into transferring him to another facility after Jack hands him back to the authorities. He escaped from custody and took off to an island somewhere. (Chain Reaction)

• Kept an incredibly underfurnished apartment under that name that no one knew about until he used it to track down info on the NID for Jack. (Chain Reaction)

• He still read the NID coded messages on various websites, and responded promptly when Jack contacted him using that method to find out what had happened to Carter. (Desperate Measures)
• He obviously enjoyed working with Jack, but was just as obviously determined to save his own skin. (Desperate Measures)
• He obviously kept  fairly steady tabs on the NID, or at the very least on NID files that relate to SGC (or possibly Jack), and was  probably living somewhere in the US -- he found  out that Teal'c was  trapped in the stargate and showed up to talk to Jack about it in what seemed to be about 24 hours (was staying locally at the Accent Inn under an alias). (48 Hours)
• He could still hack into restricted NID databases with no problem, and was  one of the few people who knew the current location of all the NID's " safehouses" (special ops bases). (48 Hours)
• With nothing in it for himself beyond a chance to get at Simmons on some level, he helped Jack break into an NID safehouse and raid it for the Goa'uld and the information SGC needs to rescue Teal'c. (48 Hours)
• His history with Simmons is unpleasant enough that Maybourne basically offered to assassinate him when Jack came  looking for help, sweetening the idea with the guess that Simmons was the one that shot Jack. (48 Hours)
• The money he was supposed to have gotten for selling the symbiote to Adrian Conrad's company was supposed to set him up for life -- losing out on it left him with nothing. (Paradise Lost)
• His attempts to stay hidden were getting less successful, and he was close to being caught (whether by the rogue NID or the authorities wasn't clear). (Paradise Lost)
• As the president approached the end of his second term, Maybourne went to Jack to suggest that the president grant him a pardon as one of his final acts. (Paradise Lost)
• Maybourne was  increasingly comfortable with Jack -- while waiting on Jack's porch, he swiped a hotdog and a beer. (Paradise Lost)
• To sweeten the idea, Maybourne offered to help the SGC get to the planet Simmons had tried to fly to in the X-303, a planet that was supposed to hold a cache of the Ancients's weapons. He wanted a direct trade: planet for pardon. (Paradise Lost)
• He also wanted to go along on the mission, explaining that he had the only key to an impenetrable doorway protecting the cache. (Paradise Lost)
• The mission was a front -- Maybourne really wanted to gain access to the stargate so he could go to a planet that was supposed to be a paradise. (Paradise Lost)
• He turned himself in to the SGC in order to get what he wanted, and finagled his way onto the mission to the planet by refusing to give Jack the combination that went with the key, necessary to open the portal/doorway to the " cache" . (Paradise Lost)
• The key -- a " stone" (actually looks like metal with crystal inserts, in an elongated, rounded shape) -- was discovered in an Egyptian tomb in the 1920s (" eighty years ago" ) wrapped in a scroll with writing on it no one could read. (Paradise Lost)
• Maybourne got it translated -- he never said by whom. The scroll contained instructions for how to use the stone to access the power of the gods. (Paradise Lost)
• Once on the planet, he got halfway through the process (inserted they key, did the combination) then pretended frustration with it, saying it hadn't worked. Sam stepped up to help, and Maybourne stole her zat and shot both her (at extremely close range) and Jack, then removed the key and leapt through the portal that had promptly opened. Jack barely managed to get there in time to go through with him. (Paradise Lost)
• The mission to open the doorway was the first time Maybourne ever stepped through the stargate.
• Has minimal (at best) field survival skills: he drank the water on an alien planet without testing it, ate local vegetation without testing it, used a grenade to go fishing, etc. (Paradise Lost)
