Why you should watch this

Wow -- this is the first season of Life, distilled down to the essence of Charlie's attempts to start his life over -- dragged down by the echoes of his life in prison, and the endless reminders of years spent in a cage, and the need to get closure on that before he can truly move on. Even knowing the source, I get tense at the end of this vid, waiting for Charlie to make the decision that will let him truly start over. Gorgeous work.

Why you should watch this

Meet Charlie Crews: this is him, his life, his patterns. And more to the point, this is how his life has changed his patterns: prison reshaped him into something new, and he can't change that. I'm not sure how much sense it will make if you don't have any context for the show, but with that context, this is fabulous.

This satisfies me in ways I don't even know how to explain -- this is Sam and Gene to me, perfectly expressed. The progression, the pacing, evertyhing is exactly what it should be to build a story that rings so true for me that if anyone asked me what I see in Sam and Gene, I'd just point them here and say, "this".

sdwolfpup started out with a fantastic song choice and ran with it, using it to frame Sam's life during the first season of LoM. The shift from loss to acceptance, with all the struggle inbetween, is really well done here. Just lovely.

Why you should watch this

I'm not sure this one needs to be recced, but just in case someone hasn't seen it -- go watch this vid. This is the Boromir vid, with a song that's so perfect for him and for this vid that it's like it was written just for Melina to use. I've seen this vid dozens of times now, and it never fails to sweep me up and leave me awed. This is beautiful.

Why you should watch this

I'm in an odd position with this vid. It's beautiful and has a clear, strong narrative that makes me really feel for the POV character - but it's a teacher/student romance, which is a big squick for me, so this isn't actually a vid I'll rewatch. But it's really well-done -- well enough that I didn't bail as soon as I realized what was going on, but kept watching till the end, which is not easy for a teacher/student story to do with me -- and if that particular dynamic doesn't bother you, you'll love this.
